For the manufacturing of products with glass yarn glass firstly initial glass form is taken, then it is wound with glass filament, which usually has a different transparency and color. By using glass yarn great variety of patterns can be created. For example, there is a Reticella glass that has a grid pattern, filigree – an opal pattern of spirals, the glass with “effect of feathers”, that has a pattern of carded threads, etc.
Venetian island of Murano has presented another modification, which was called millefiori or «thousand flowers». In this technique, small tubes or plates of glass fused into the glass surface of the vessel. With this technique the flowers can be formed from glass pieces, which gave the name of this modification. Transparent bubbles are formed by blowing air through the hollow needle of small diameter, similar to the syringe. Thus, the air pumped into the glass forms flaring threads.
